When organizations build or adopt AI, privacy is often treated as the final hurdle — something legal teams review at the end, when it’s too late.
Privacy-by-design means embedding data protection into AI systems from day one, not bolting it on after deployment.
Under frameworks like the OECD AI Principles and ISO 42001, responsible AI requires:

  1. Minimizing data collection to what's necessary
  2. Ensuring transparency in how data is used
  3. Protecting individuals, especially vulnerable populations, often served by small business, nonprofits, and local orgs

For nonprofits and government entities: Your constituents trust you with sensitive information. That trust is your most valuable asset.

Privacy isn't a legal department problem. It's a leadership decision. What decisions are you making to protect the privacy of your clients, your employees, your organization?
